Lori Burnworth

Yoga Teacher

Lori has always sought variety in her workout regimen. As an overweight teenager, she found the will power to lose 100 pounds through diet and exercise and keep it off. With variety as her goal, she used swimming, karate, weight lifting, aerobics and finally yoga to keep herself trim. Yoga also helped with the stress from her career as a financial manager.

Due to travel for her job she was able to experience many forms of yoga – Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, Iyenger and most recently Anusara yoga. After retiring to Mexico 9 years ago she began to teach yoga.

Over time her focus has become “Yoga for People Over 50” because she lives in Ajijic, Mexico which has become a retirement community for people from all over the world.

In support of that focus she has attended three workshops on Therapeutic Yoga taught by Anthony Bogart from Colorado. She now teaches a Therapeutic Yoga class and does some one on one counseling.

In addition, she became certified in Thai Yoga Massage in 2011. The combination of massage, therapeutic yoga and yoga experience gives her a wealth of knowledge to guide her students and clients to better health.

She is always seeking improvement in her own practice as well as that of her students. She believes in variety and life-long learning about breath, body and spirit.

She wishes to share the joy of yoga with students while attending to the needs of older students who seek pain relief and improved health.
